Peace of Paper comes to Greece!
I’m Nihal and I have been volunteering for two years with Peace of Paper e.V.
Peace of Paper is a crafts project based in Munich that brings people together through creative and playful workshops. Locals and refugees come together to design, cut and print stamps, which are then used to print beautiful postcards.
Designing and printing stamps is a simple technique that makes it easy for people of all languages and nationalities to work together, share ideas, have fun and get to know each other.
We sell the products and donate the revenues to grassroots NGOs supporting people along migration routes, including IHA.
In the beginning of April, I came to Northern Greece to volunteer with IHA and came up with the idea to bring the Peace of Paper workshops along with me.
The Peace of Paper team from Munich sent us a package with all the necessary material and when it finally arrived, we ran the first workshop in our Lagadikia Community Centre. Personally, I am very pleased that it worked out so well and I have been able to experience two very important projects, for me, at the same time and to contribute something new to IHA’s work in Northern Greece.
The workshop was a nice change from our other activities and created a small space for creativity in the Community Center. Many beautiful motifs have been created and we are planning further workshops in the future.
